“Veneer of Civilization,” reflects Greg’s fascination with the eternal efforts of humankind to tame the Earth, even while nature exerts itself as the victor from beneath the surface.
One might not notice from the ground, but from the air it’s obvious that the natural flow of water is disrupting human efforts to subjugate this Kansas farmland.
This photograph was taken in SW Kansas, en route from Wichita to Flagstaff, Arizona, on a flight associated with Greg’s Flying Carpet column, “Follow that Bicycle!”
