“Air France 447 Flight-Data Recorder Transcript – What Really Happened”
Wow! Talk about chilling!!! I didn’t realize they’d fully released the voice and data recorder contents relative to the Air France crash in the South Atlantic several years ago.
“Air France 447 Flight-Data Recorder Transcript – What Really Happened,” fromĀ Popular Mechanics.
I rarely post links to outside stories on my blog, but this is just so provocative, so telling, and so downright scary, I decided to do so.
A thought-provokingĀ must-read for every pilot…

Thanks for posting this Greg. It makes for chilling reading indeed, but like Capt Sully’s water landing and Capt Rich’s (Qantas A380 emergency at Changi), these accidents yield valuable lessons for all pilots big and small.

Even more scary to listen to than the Buffalo crash.

Is there anywhere to actually listen to it, rather than reading it?

That is chilling indeed. I’ll never forget when we experienced carburator ice and how quiet it got when the engine quit momentarily – but those 3 or 4 seconds of silence were quite impressive. However, we weren’t worried, we knew what to do since we were both fairly new pilots and all of our training was still fresh in our heads. We didn’t need to do any of those emergency procedures since the engine caught right away after we applied carburator heat, but it’s so good to keep that knowledge fresh! We never know when something may happen and we’ll need to keep our cool and fly the plane!
